Just Right
Just Right has a subtle, underlying message that joy can be found in giving and that Christmas is a time to give to those less fortunate than us.
A King buys a roll of red, soft, Christmassy fabric with which he plans to have a cloak made for his daughter, the princess. Instead of wasting the scraps of material, they are left on the back doorstep where a maid finds them and makes a jacket for her mother. She too leaves her scraps on the back door step.
This soft, red, and Christmassy roll of fabric goes a long way. The scraps are continually salvaged until every last bit of the fabric has been used.
Each character who stumbles across the fabric immediately thinks of a special person in their life and creates a handmade gift.
From a royal cloak wrapped in golden paper and silver ribbon to a tiny pair of gloves wrapped in a leaf, these gifts make Christmas feel’ just right’.
Rosalind Beardshaw’s illustrations are rich in colour and texture and you just want to reach right in and touch that Christmassy, soft cloth.
