We spotted some sticky-backed felt hearts at a craft shop last weekend. For $2.99 they were an irresistible buy.
We’ve always got books on the mind so we created some impromptu bookmarks, which we decided were perfect for Valentine’s gifts.
The process was super easy and helped Cam develop her fine motor skills. And the final product, I’m sure you’ll agree, is super cute bookmarks- just perfect for book-lovers.
You will need:
- Paddle-pop sticks
- Sticky-backed felt hearts
- Paint and paintbrush
- Permanent marker
Process:
Paint the sticks in seasonal colours (we chose red and pink) and allow them to dry
Ask your child to find two matching hearts from the packet
Once the paint has dried, attach one heart to the top of the paddle pop stick and stick the second heart to the back of the first heart
Write a message on the paddle pop stick with the permanent marker. On our bookmarks we wrote, ‘read me’, ‘pick me’, ‘be mine’, ‘I love books’ and ‘A whole new world’.
Present the bookmark to a loved one on Valentine’s Day. Cam plans on giving a bookmark to her new kindergarten teacher.
